Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (TSS Visa) Subclass 482
From March 2018, the 457 visa was replaced by the subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage or TSS visa.
This is a temporary visa allowing an employer to sponsor a skilled overseas worker to fill a position they cannot fill locally.
This visa has a short term stream where applicants are eligible for a 2 year visa and a medium to long term stream allowing applicants up to 4 years with Permanent Residency eligibility after 3 years.
Those on the short term visa can renew for a further 2 years.
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) - subclass 494 Visa
The subclass 494 visa has replaced the RSMS 187 Direct Entry visa. There are 9000 of these allocated per year for regional Australia which includes all areas excluding Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
About this visa:

5 years validity with PR eligibility after 3 years

Must be under 45 years of age at time of application

Must have been employed for a minimum of 3 years full time in your nominated occupation

Must have a positive Skills Assessment, competent English (Dependent partners over 18 Functional English) and Police clearances

No Private Health Insurance required as full access to Medicare

Available to applicants on both MLTSSL and STSOL
Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa - Subclass 186
This is a permanent residency visa available to applicants already living and working in Australia and to those living offshore.
There are no conditions for visa holders and family members can be included.
The 186 has two streams : Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) or Direct Entry (DE).
To apply in the TRT stream, you must be the holder of a subclass 457, 482 or bridging visa granted in association with one of these subclasses. You must have worked with your nominating employer for a period of 3 years. No Skills Assessment is required.
To apply in the DE stream, you may be either onshore or offshore. You must have a valid Skills Assessment.
This visa requires a nominating employer and a competent level of English language ability of IELTS 6.0 / PTE 50 or equivalent.
